Hyderabad: Justice K Sujana of Telangana high court on Monday issued notices to the state and complainants in four criminal cases filed against chief minister A Revanth Reddy, while hearing criminal petitions filed by the CM seeking quashing of criminal cases registered against him over alleged model code of conduct (MCC) violations during the 2019 Huzurnagar by-election campaign. The court directed the state and complainants, all officials deputed by the Election Commission, to file their counters and adjourned the case to April 21 for further hearing. The CM’s counsel argued that there was no specific material linking him to deliberate obstruction and cited the precedent Supreme Court ruling in Bhajan Lal case. He also told the court that the high court had already quashed the same four cases against Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is one of the accused in the same cases and urged the court to quash the cases against the CM.The cases related to roadshows, rallies and a public meeting held in Oct 2019 at Nereducherla, Mattampally Chowrastha, Janapahad village and Huzurnagar town, allegedly causing obstruction, noise violations and traffic congestion.
