Chennai: Madras high court on Friday dismissed a plea moved by PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss seeking to freeze the party’s ‘mango’ election symbol amid a dispute with his son Anbumani Ramadoss.Justice T V Thamilselvi passed the order while rejecting an application moved by Dr Ramadoss. He has been trying to freeze the party symbol since Assembly elections were announced.During an earlier round of litigation, on March 12, the same judge passed an interim stay against the proceedings of a civil suit moved by Dr Ramadoss pending before a Chennai city civil court seeking to restrain his son from using the name, flag and election symbol of PMK.Aggrieved, Ramadoss approached the apex court. Refusing any relief, the Supreme Court directed Dr Ramadoss to approach the jurisdictional civil court. On March 26, the civil court also refused to freeze the symbol and observed that restraining or altering the allotment of an electoral symbol at this stage would inevitably impinge upon the ongoing election process.Aggrieved, Dr Ramadoss once again approached the SC, which in turn directed him to approach the high court. Hence, the present plea that was again turned down.
