Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Thursday directed the govt to furnish a detailed report on steps taken for conservation of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) in the state.The principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) and PTR field director were present in the court and said that steps are being taken for conservation of the tiger reserve. Advocate general Rajiv Ranjan, pleading on behalf of the govt, produced the map of the PTR before the division bench. He further went on to say that the forest department is taking steps for proper upkeep and conservation of the reserve forest.The advocate general informed the bench that the railway line crossing through the perimeter of the PTR as well as roads crossing the forest area will have to be shifted to save the habitat of the wildcats.The division bench of Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar were hearing a public investigation filed by Vikas Mahato on the conservation of the PTR. The case will again be heard on April 16. The high court has also directed the Latehar and Garhwa deputy commissioners to be added as parties in the case.
