Kalaburagi: Lingaraja Kanni, the expelled block Congress president of Kalaburagi South, who is on bail now, denied allegations of drug trafficking in Maharashtra, and alleged the police filed a fabricated case against him.During a press conference here on Sunday, Kanni stated that he has been in public life for 20 years.“I am not involved in any anti-social activities. There was enmity between my friend Irfan and Tausi, who are both medical representatives,” he said.He explained that the police were informed about the conflict with Tausif, whose details were unknown to him. Lingaraj asserted that despite his protests of innocence, the police produced cough syrup bottles and registered an FIR against him and two others. He denied any association with IT-BT and RDPR minister Priyank Kharge, stating he had never met Kharge. He accepted his party’s decision to expel him.Expressing remorse for any harm caused to party leaders, Kanni also responded to BJP’s accusations. He suggested that with BJP govt in Maharashtra, they should refer the case to the CBI if they have sufficient evidence.
