Chandigarh: The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday secured the deportation of gangster Sahil Chauhan alias Sahil Rana from Thailand, marking a key breakthrough in its crackdown on organised crime networks with inter-state links.A 25-year-old from Shahzadpur in Ambala district, Sahil is associated with the Bambiha gang and also linked to the Bhuppi Rana group. Police described him as an active operative involved in organised criminal activities across Haryana and adjoining states.This is the fifth deportation secured by Haryana STF in 2026, after Ankit Shokeen, Aman Bhainswal, Sombir Motta and Shilu Dahar, indicating a sustained push against fugitives operating from abroad.STF chief B Satheesh Balan said Sahil is involved in 16 criminal cases registered since 2016, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery, criminal intimidation and Arms Act violations. His operations span Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Ambala and Panchkula districts.The agency said Sahil had procured a passport fraudulently under a false identity from Bengaluru. The document was impounded on March 17, 2026, following which a Look Out Circular and Red Corner Notice were issued, and an Interpol reference was sent in July 2025.Police said an open-dated arrest warrant was issued in a 2024 case registered at Shahzadpur police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Passport Act.
