Hisar: A case was registered against a junior engineer (JE) of the Ratia municipal committee (MC) for allegedly committing irregularities on the No Dues Certificate (NDC) portal by illegally altering the status of several property IDs. According to official sources, the matter came to light following directions from the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies (DULB), Haryana. Acting on a complaint forwarded by the secretary, Ratia municipal committee, the city police station registered an FIR against JE Hawa Singh, who was serving as a ULB checker at the time of the alleged incident.As per the complaint, the irregularities were initially reported by the DTP Headquarters. It was alleged that Hawa Singh misused his official access to the NDC portal and changed the status of around 35 to 40 property identification numbers (PIDs) from “unauthorised” to “authorised”. Officials stated that the competent authority termed the act serious in nature. The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies issued directions to lodge an FIR in the matter after the alleged manipulation was detected.Following these instructions, the Municipal Committee secretary forwarded the complaint to the police, and the District Municipal Commissioner, Fatehabad also directed that legal action be initiated. On the basis of the complaint, City Police Station Ratia registered FIR No under Sections 201 (public servant framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury), 318(3) (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to a person whose interest the offender is bound to protect) and 316(5) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with the Information Technology Act.
