Gurgaon: Light and uneven rainfall was reported in several parts of the city on Sunday, bringing down the day-time temperature to 27.4°C from 33.2°C recorded on Saturday. The minimum temperature rose slightly to 18.1°C from 17.5°C on the previous day, according to data from India Meteorological Department (IMD).The district recorded 3mm of rainfall, the highest amount during the period, while Kadipur and Harsaru received 2mm each. Sohna, Manesar and Pataudi reported only light drizzle with no measurable rainfall, while Farrukhnagar recorded no rainfall.Officials said the showers were scattered and short-lived, with rainfall concentrated in pockets of the district. While central parts of the districts and nearby areas recorded measurable precipitation, southern and western areas largely experienced brief drizzle. The light showers coincided with a western disturbance influencing weather conditions over north India. The weather department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40kmph in parts of Haryana under the influence of the western disturbance on March 16.Similar weather conditions, including thunderstorms and gusty winds, are also likely on March 19 and March 20, according to IMD.Such patchy rainfall and thunderstorm activity are common during the seasonal transition period in March, when western disturbances trigger isolated showers across the region, meteorologists said.
