Gurgaon: MCG has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Foundation for Improving the Quality of Life (A-PAG) to identify major pollution sources and develop strategies to improve air quality in the city.Officials said the agreement aims to strengthen both short- and long-term measures to control air pollution, with a focus on data-driven policymaking and targeted action against key emission sources.Under the MoU, A-PAG will help the civic body identify major contributors to pollution, including construction activities, road dust and industrial emissions, and recommend scientific measures to mitigate them. The initiative will rely on systematic data collection, analysis and monitoring to guide policy decisions and improve implementation. The agreement also includes training programmes for municipal staff and awareness campaigns to encourage public participation in efforts to reduce pollution.Municipal commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the partnership would help strengthen efforts to improve the city’s environment. “A-PAG will provide technical support to MCG in drafting and implementing air pollution control policies,” he said.Separately, MCG has partnered with WRI India to identify waste-burning hotspots as part of its plan to implement a ‘zero open waste burning’ model. The organisation will also assist in addressing construction and demolition (C&D) waste management. As part of this initiative, the model will be piloted in selected residential communities, where ‘community champions’ will be trained within RWAs to monitor waste disposal practices and support the campaign at the grassroots level.
