Gurgaon: The finance and contracts committee (F&CC) of MCG on Friday approved 45 projects worth Rs 282 crore, with more than 70% of the works related to road construction, repair and maintenance across the city.Among the major approvals, road construction in Saraswati Enclave was cleared at an estimated cost of Rs 9.7 crore, while the laying of bituminous concrete roads in Mayfield Garden will cost Rs 6.2 crore. Reconstruction of roads in South City-2 was approved at Rs 8.3 crore.The committee also cleared the development of a model road from the Delhi border at Bijwasan to Ram Chowk in Palam Vihar for Rs 9.1 crore. The highest-value project approved was the construction of a model road in Daultabad at a cost of Rs 9.9 crore.Moreover, the panel sanctioned Rs 3.3 crore for recarpeting of roads with bituminous concrete and replacement of sidewalk tiles in blocks D, E, F and Residency Green of Greenwood City. It also approved two separate allocations of Rs 9.5 crore each for repair and maintenance works in New Gurgaon and Old Gurgaon. These works include addressing daily complaints received through social media platforms and public grievance portals.The focus on roads comes amid criticism from residents over poor road conditions, frequent damage and the short lifespan of recently repaired stretches.Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra said, “MCG is committed to balanced and sustainable development of the city. Better basic amenities will be provided to residents through these projects, and the city’s infrastructure will be strengthened.”MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said, “The approved projects have been prepared based on the needs of residents and suggestions received from public representatives. All works will be completed timely so that people can benefit at the earliest.”Of the 45 projects approved, the remaining 13 focus on basic civic infrastructure, including water supply, sewerage and urban amenities. Water supply projects and infrastructure upgrades will be carried out in areas including Sector 40 at Rs 4 crore and Dhankot village at Rs 6.7 crore. These include pipeline laying, boosting stations and underground water storage to address shortages in several parts of the city.Sewerage and drainage works will be undertaken in Narsingpur along NH8 at Rs 9 crore and Saraswati Enclave at Rs 8.9 crore, among other areas. Civic infrastructure projects include market redevelopment in Sector 31 and public utility upgrades, along with parking facilities in Sector 45. Beautification and public amenities projects include improvement of public spaces in Jharsa and development of secondary waste collection points in Bajghera at Rs 5.3 crore and Bhondsi Road at Rs 2.9 crore.“These projects are intended to complement road upgrades by strengthening core infrastructure, though their share remains lower,” officials said.
