New Delhi: Shots were fired at a gym at Chhawla village in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, days after its owner received an extortion demand of Rs 2 crore, allegedly from Lawrence Bishnoi’s aide Harry Boxer. No one was at the gym at that time, and no injuries were reported. An FIR was registered and an investigation is underway to identify and trace the shooters, Delhi Police said. The 36-year-old owner of the gym has reportedly been on the radar of criminal syndicates of late. UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan demanded protection money from him a few days ago, he told cops. The man shut his gym, as usual, at around 10 pm on Friday. Before leaving for his house, he checked the premises thoroughly and made sure all entry and exit points, including the main shutter and internal doors, were securely locked, he told police. When he returned at around 4.45 am the next morning to open the gym, he noticed glass shards scattered near the front shutter. As he attempted to lift the shutter, he felt a bit of resistance. On closer inspection, he discovered three holes, which appeared consistent with bullet impact marks, in the shutter, he told cops. Three empty cartridges were lying on the road just outside the gym, indicating that shots had been fired at the property while he was home. When the owner could finally open the shutter and enter the premises, he found that an internal glass door was shattered. Glass shards were strewn across the floor, suggesting that the bullets had penetrated the shutter and hit the door. Realising the gravity of the situation, he immediately called up police.A team of local cops rushed to the spot. Later, a team from the crime branch and officials of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) inspected the scene. A case was registered.
