Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Commission for Women (GSCW) disposed of 74% of the applications it received in 2024-25, a report tabled in the recently concluded budget session of the assembly said.Considering the backlog of 703 applications from previous years, there were 2,041 applications before the commission in 2024-25, of which 991 were disposed of, and 1,050 applications remained pending, the report said. During the same period, the number of cases referred to Nari Adalats across districts was 3,845, which included 37 pending applications. Of these, 3,773 applications were disposed of, with 72 pending, the report said, adding that statistical data of Nari Adalats are published on the CM dashboard on the 10th of every month. Different types of applications, including those pertaining to physical and mental harassment, dowry demand, dowry deaths, molestation, marital issues and the like, are filed with Nari Adalats. The GSCW also operates an NRI cell where legal advice is provided to women married to non-resident Indians. After receiving information in a prescribed format, it is forwarded to the police department and the National Commission for Women for further action, the report said.
