Ahmedabad: Satellite police uncovered more than just call centre equipment during a late-night raid near Prernatirth Derasar in Satellite. Police raided a house in Shubhdarshan Society and arrested four youths allegedly operating an illegal call centre. The search yielded hybrid ganja worth Rs 4.4 lakh, along with vehicles suspected to be used for deliveries. The action followed a tip-off received during a combing patrol on Feb 26. Police sub-inspector Y S Chudasama, who later lodged the complaint, said the Satellite police team arrived at the call centre after receiving specific information that a man identified as Kunal Desai was running an illegal call centre from there.When officers entered a 12×10 room on the premises around 9.45am, they found four men seated with laptops and headphones. During a search of the room, police recovered a black-and-red bag containing multiple small zipper pouches filled with a greenish plant substance suspected to be hybrid ganja. An electronic weighing scale and Rs 28,000 in cash were also seized.The four accused were identified as Kunal Desai, 25, a resident of Shubhdarshan Apartments in Satellite; Deep Jadav, 23, a resident of Shela; Harshil Dawda, 19, currently staying at a guesthouse in Anandnagar; and Kunal Mistry, 21, a resident of Anandnagar.As required under the NDPS Act, two govt officials, Kalpesh Prajapati and Vaibhav Sagar, were called as panch witnesses early on Feb 27. An FSL team conducted a primary test, confirming the substance as ganja.Police said 77 small and two large zipped pouches were recovered. The total net weight of the contraband was 126.840 grams. At a stated rate of Rs 3,500 per gram, its value was calculated at Rs 4,43,940. Officers also seized a car and two scooters allegedly used for delivery of the contraband.The total value of the seized property, including the vehicles, is estimated at Rs 12.19 lakh. An offence has been registered under the NDPS Act. Police have also filed a separate complaint regarding the alleged illegal call centre operations. Further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify the customer base.
