Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday laid a trap and arrested a senior intelligence officer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a person in connection with the renewal of police protection. The money was allegedly demanded to ensure that the police cover remained in place.According to officers, the accused was posted with the State Intelligence Bureau at the Sanand centre. The ACB team laid a trap near Sargasan crossroads in Gandhinagar, where the money was handed over to the accused inside the complainant’s car. As soon as the accused accepted the money, the ACB team caught him red-handed and recovered the bribe amount. Sources in the ACB said that the complainant, who was given the protection, was a victim of a high-profile violence case. ACB officials said a case was registered against the officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act. tnn
