Ahmedabad: Former councillor, Tasnim Alam Tirmizi, who is in the remand of Kheda police in connection with a criminal case, has been permitted to file his nomination papers for the upcoming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections. A judicial magistrate first class in Kapadvanj on Friday allowed Tirmizi, to file his papers from the Behrampura Ward No. 35 on Sunday.Tirmizi was arrested on March 7 by Aatarsumba police of Kheda district on forgery charges. A day later, he was sent to police remand and his custodial interrogation got over on Friday. When he was produced before the JMFC court on Friday afternoon, Tirmizi’s counsel Iqbal Shaikh tendered an application seeking permission from the court to allow him to file nominations in Ahmedabad.The JMFC passed an order permitting Tirmizi to come to Ahmedabad and file his nominations, and directed the authorities concerned to arrange for the same as Tirmizi was in police custody.
