Alwar: A 59-year-old govt teacher died by suicide about 100 metres from his house in Nirbhaypura village under the Akbarpur police station area, Alwar district Sunday evening. The police found a four-page suicide note from the spot, in which the deceased accused his colleagues and the school principal of mental harassment.The deceased was identified as Baddan Lal (59), who was posted at Govt Higher Secondary School, Dhehlawas. According to the police, he had been working in the school for the past 25 years and had completed 38 years of govt service. His retirement was due on June 30 this year. He is survived by three sons who are preparing for competitive exams.
The family members filed a report at Akbarpur police station against seven persons, former principal Sunita Bai, former principal Gayatri Devi, current principal AK Mishra, and teachers Anil Kumar Verma, Roshan Lal Yadav, Pritendra Singh, and Seema Gupta, alleging mental harassment. Baddan Lal, in his suicide note stated that he was undergoing treatment in Jaipur for the past four-five years for mental illness. He wrote that he was distressed about not being relieved from work responsibilities assigned at the school and that, despite his approaching retirement, he was unable to avail his remaining 600 half pay leaves. In the note, he wrote, “I am going through a serious situation. There is no one to listen to me. I have three sons who are educated and preparing for jobs. There are 11 members in my family who are dependent on me, that is why I couldn’t take voluntary retirement.” His family staged a protest at the hospital Monday, demanding the accused be arrested. After receiving information, DSP Rural, Shivani Sharma reached the spot with police personnel and persuaded them to end the protest. Police assured the family of prompt action.
