Panaji: The department of civil supplies and consumer affairs has seized 42 LPG cylinders during inspections conducted across Goa since March 1.“Four domestic cylinders were found to be used by two restaurants in Porvorim, whereas 38 commercial cylinders were found in a secluded area in Saligao. We have filed FIRs at the respective police stations,” said Amit Sawant, deputy director of civil supplies.Sawant said they inspected 178 restaurants and commercial establishments across Goa.He said that last week, govt appointed nodal officers to monitor LPG stocks and deliveries in all talukas, to ensure that the domestic supply is not interrupted. These officers are tasked with overseeing LPG distributors to ensure proper crowd management without resorting to hoarding and black marketing.He also said crowding outside gas agencies has been almost controlled. LPG dealers have been complying with the govt-issued instructions.
