Bengaluru: A 42-year-old central govt employee has alleged that she was raped, sexually harassed, assaulted, and extorted by a 51-year-old man, who allegedly recorded videos of the abuse and used them to blackmail her over several years.Based on her complaint, a special team led by assistant commissioner of police (Pulikeshinagar) CR Geetha arrested the accused, Kriplani M, a resident of Indiranagar. He was remanded in judicial custody Saturday.The complainant, who works at Kempegowda International Airport, said she came in contact with the accused after he promised to marry her. She alleged that he raped and assaulted her repeatedly between 2019 and 2023, while subjecting her to sustained harassment that forced her to vacate her house in Indiranagar and relocate to Yelahanka.The accused, who police said has a history of filing complaints against govt officials and cops dating back to 2008, claimed he had links with senior officers, judges, and public prosecutors, and threatened the woman and her mother with false criminal cases. He allegedly recorded private videos of the victim, demanded up to Rs 18 lakh, and threatened to release the footage if she refused to pay. He also took possession of her personal documents, including her ID, PAN, and Aadhaar cards, to further tighten his hold over her.She filed a complaint in Dec 2025 at Yelahanka police station. The case was registered as a zero FIR and transferred to Indiranagar police station. After the accused levelled allegations against Indiranagar officers, the investigation was handed to Pulikeshinagar police.His attempts to obstruct justice extended beyond the investigation. A few months ago, he filed a false habeas corpus petition in the high court through his mother, falsely claiming he was missing. Police traced him to Chennai, where he assaulted city police personnel. The high court imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh for the frivolous petition.During a medical examination at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, he allegedly manhandled police personnel, assaulted a sub-inspector, and snatched a mobile phone. A separate case has been registered at VV Puram police station. He has since been taken back into custody as he had not cooperated with the earlier investigation.
