T’puram: The govt doctors under the health services will go on mass leave on Tuesday as part of a protest the mob attack on healthcare personnel at Nedumangad district hospital following the death of a newborn.“In response to the mob trial following death of a newborn at the hospital, the brutal assault on the female hospital superintendent, and the unjust suspension of a doctor without examining the facts, govt doctors in the district will protest by taking mass leave on Tuesday,” said Dr Sunitha N, district president of Kerala Govt Medical Officers Association. The association demands immediate arrest of the culprits behind this violence and strict action against them under Hospital Protection Act, she said.The suspension of the doctor, disregarding probe reports and denying natural justice, must be revoked immediately. The practice of targeting doctors by labelling medical complexities as errors should end. The govt should issue clear guidelines to avoid disciplinary action before completing a scientific probe in such cases, she said. TNN
