Ahmedabad: The dispute at the Government Dental College on the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital campus has intensified. Although authorities previously stated that the recent strike by intern students had been resolved, the interns have now approached the health and family welfare department, alleging coercion, intimidation and misconduct by the dean. According to their written complaint, the interns had originally protested against the denial of hostel accommodation during their internship and issues related to scholarships. Students now claim they were compelled to sign blank papers under pressure, and that these signatures were later misused to falsely declare that the matter had been settled. The students further alleged that the dean threatened to cut one month’s scholarship and imposed restrictions on communication among interns. In their letter, the interns have demanded removal of the dean and certain other officials, accusing them of harassment and financial exploitation. tnn
