Mysuru: Over a dozen people were injured when a goods van they were travelling in overturned on a bypass road in Yelandur town of Chamarajanagar district on Sunday.Police said the injured are residents of Mallaiahanapura of Gundlupet taluk. Among the 13 injured, nine sustained major injuries and were rushed to Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS). The others are being treated at Yelandur Town Govt General Hospital.The incident took place when they were heading towards Srikshetra Male Mahadeshwara Temple atop MM Hills in Hanur taluk. The driver of the van lost control of the vehicle after he tried to avoid colliding with a bike, police said.Yelandur police who rushed to the spot, registered a case. An investigation is on.In another incident, a 40-year-old driver was killed on the spot when a tipper hit the car he was driving near Madapatna in Gundlupet taluk on Saturday night. Police said the deceased is Praveen of Gundlupet town. The driver was killed on the spot due to the impact of the collision, police said.Begur police have registered a case.
