Imphal: Christian communities across Manipur observed Good Friday with solemn prayers, fasting, and worship services, reflecting on the themes of sacrifice, love and forgiveness.At the Manipur Baptist Convention Centre Church in Imphal, the morning service was held from 7am to 9am, followed by a period of fasting prayer.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Zuankamang Daimai, the pastor of the MBC Centre Church Imphal, highlighted that Good Friday commemorates the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, whose crucifixion, according to Christian belief, brought redemption and the promise of eternal life. He emphasised that the central message of the observance lies in love, forgiveness, and unity.CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh, in his greetings on Good Friday, said the day reminds everyone of the message of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and compassion for humanity. “The observance of Good Friday inspires us to reflect upon these timeless values and encourages us to uphold peace, humility, and service to others in our daily lives,” he said.
