Panaji: For the convenience of citizens as well as staffers during inspections, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has started the process to set up a regional office in Margao.At present its headquarters is located in Saligao.Recently, state govt directed the GSPCB to hand over the premises at Patto to it. The premises had been allotted to the board to run its operations orginally in Panaji.The board members, at the recent meeting of GSPCB, however, decided to handover the premises back to govt provided a space for regional office in Margao is allotted to it by the state administration.The board members noted that this regional office is needed especially for the purpose of noise monitoring and to reduce the travel costs during inspections etc.“The activities have increased and specifically in monitoring of Noise Rules. The board will require premises in South Goa, preferably in Margao. Therefore, it is proposed that the board in lieu of the premises (at Patto, Panaji) may be provided premises for establishing a regional office of equal area,” the GSPCB members decided at the board’s recent meeting.
