Jaipur: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Sunday flagged crop losses from repeated hailstorms and erratic weather, and accused the Rajasthan govt of failing to clear pending payments under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), saying the medical situation has become “dangerous”.“Continuous adverse weather has left farmers in distress. This is a matter of great concern,” Gehlot told reporters, linking the damage to the growing impact of climate change. He urged the government to act quickly on compensation. “The govt should pay attention to this right now, so that farmers can receive timely compensation and their backs are not broken. The condition of farmers is very bad,” he said, adding that storms, hail and cold waves were “breaking the hearts” of farmers. On RGHS, Gehlot alleged dues of nearly Rs 1,000 crore remain unpaid, forcing medicine shop owners to stop supplying drugs. He said private hospitals have begun charging patients Rs 2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, citing non-payment by the government, and have halted treatment under the scheme. Gehlot also hit out at BJP leaders over their response to his social media series ‘Intezarshastra’, accusing them of dodging questions. “They do not even dare to respond … they just twist and divert the matter in another direction,” he said.“They made Ghanshyam Tiwariji, Madan Rathoreji and Rajendra Rathoreji speak up. The CM also spoke. But these people are not giving any clear answer,” he said.
