Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation plans to modernise bus termini in George Town, Pallikaranai and Adambakkam for 110 crore. The civic body will upgrade ageing infrastructure, improve commuter amenities, and boost its commercial potential.In phase 1, GCC took up the modernisation of termini in Madhavaram and Manali, focusing on improving passenger amenities and basic infrastructure.Under phase 2, those at George Town, Kathivakkam, Thoraipakkam, Pallikaranai, Ramapuram, Sriram Nagar, Nanganallur, Adambakkam and Madipakkam will be redeveloped through PPP or EPC mode. This will help reduce the financial burden on GCC and ensure faster execution and better maintenance, an official said. “The aim is to improve facilities for commuters, and integrate commercial spaces to generate revenue,” said GCC’s superintendent engineer (special projects) A S Murugan.
