The floor of a garment shop caved in partially on Wednesday morning in north Delhi’s Kotwali, triggering panic in the busy commercial locality. The collapse in the ground-floor shop was reported around 11.30am and Municipal Corporation of Delhi later confirmed it. An official said the owner of the private property would be notified to take corrective action. “If the owner fails to act, MCD will step in.” A PCR caller from Maliwara told police at 12.34pm, “The ground has collapsed here; the shop floor has sunk nearly 10 feet below.” A photo allegedly showing the incident went viral on social media.
