Mangaluru: Disha, a commerce student of Alva’s PU College in Moodabidiri, secured a perfect 600 out of 600 with first rank in the II PU examinations, amidst the testing times due to a personal tragedy.On the day of her economics exam, her mother Savitha suffered fatal injuries following an accidental fall. She later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Despite the devastating loss, Disha returned to complete her remaining examinations in Hindi and accountancy while also taking part in funeral rituals.Sources close to the family said some relatives even advised Disha not to appear for the exams while her mother was in hospital. Disha told TOI: “Completing the rest of my papers after losing my mother was incredibly difficult. The support from my sister, teachers and college kept me going.” Her younger sister, Deeksha, a Class 10 student, said Disha was deeply shaken by their mother’s death but remained determined not to miss any examination.
