Kolkata/Asansol/Suri: Hoax emails to courts continued even on Wednesday, with courts in Suri and Asansol receiving threats that disrupted judicial work, including SIR verification. On Tuesday, judicial activities were disrupted as at least six courts across Bengal received bomb threats, which eventually turned out to be hoaxes. The Kolkata Police STF on Wednesday took over the probe into the hoax emails, with the unit writing to multiple agencies to try and trace the source of these emails.Identical hoax emails from rameeza_hussain@hotmail.com, threatening suicide bomb attacks and RDX blasts, landed in the inboxes of district judges supervising SIR verification work in Kolkata, West Burdwan, Hooghly, and Murshidabad at 7:59 am on Tuesday.So far, investigators traced the servers used for several of these emails to two Asian and two central European nations, though these may have been masked. Investigators are now analysing metadata, language patterns, and the timing of the emails to identify possible links between the incidents. Officials confirmed that many of the email accounts used were created with fake credentials and appear to be disposable.On Wednesday, a bomb threat triggered panic at the Asansol District and Sessions Court after an email warned of an RDX explosive device allegedly planted inside the court premises. According to official sources, the threatening message was sent to the official email ID of the Asansol District Judge.As soon as the threat was noticed, the matter was reported to the police. Security was immediately tightened across the court campus. Bomb disposal squad personnel and a dog squad were deployed to carry out a thorough search operation. A bomb scare at the Suri District Court triggered panic after the district judge received a threat mail. Following claims that a bomb was planted on the premises, the courtroom was evacuated. Police, led by DSP Kunal Chakraborty, and a bomb squad conducted a thorough search of the area. No explosives were found.
