Bathinda: Four inmates of a drug de-addiction centre in Haryana‘s Rori died after their car overturned and crashed into a tree in Punjab’s Bathinda district on Sunday.The deceased have been identified as Balpreet Singh of Dhanaula in Barnala district and Harpreet Singh, Gursimran Singh, and Jashandeep Singh, all residents of Mansa district. Balpreet Singh was admitted to the facility on Feb 6, a month after he returned from a two-and-a-half-year stay in the UK. Police registered a case under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the centre owners, Ranjit Singh and Arun Kumar, and an unidentified person on the complaint of Sukhwinder Singh, the father of Balpreet Singh. He alleged that the centre had forcibly sent the four to Maur Kalan village to bring another addict, Amandeep Singh. The accident occurred near Sandoha village during the return journey. Amandeep Singh suffered minor injuries.Sukhwinder Singh alleged that the owners acted illegally by deploying patients, who were not in a fit state of mind, for such tasks. Maur police station SHO inspector Tarundeep Singh told TOI that a case has been registered under section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
