Hyderabad: Four persons, including two members of a family, died and 19 others were injured when a private travel bus veered off the road and overturned early on Friday on NH-44 in Nizamabad district. The deceased were identified as Manjusha Mygani (30), her son Rushi Mygani (7), Rahul (25), and Abbas (45). The incident occurred near Brahmangari Temple on the outskirts of Gannaram village at around 2.20 am when the bus was heading towards Akola in Maharashtra from Hyderabad.According to one of the injured passengers, Mygani Laxman (45), a labourer from Chandai village in Washim district in Maharashtra, “The driver was operating the vehicle at high speed in a rash and negligent manner. The bus first rammed into a caution board on the left side of the road, then veered off the road, hit a large rock and fell on its right.”Laxman had come to the city around 15 days ago with his wife Manjusha, and their son Rushi, for labour work. After completing the work, the family booked two seats on a Khurana Travels bus to return to their native village and boarded the bus at 10 pm in Bowenpally.“In the accident, my wife, son and co-driver of the bus, Rahul, died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Another passenger, Abbas, later succumbed while undergoing treatment at the govt hospital in Nizamabad,” Laxman told police in his complaint.Indalwai SI G Sandeep said Rahul, a native of Maharashtra, was the co-driver of the bus, while Abbas from Bengaluru was a watch repairer. The remaining 18 injured passengers, including Laxman, along with the surviving driver, Sanjay, also from Maharashtra, were rushed to two hospitals in Nizamabad for treatment.“Currently, 10 of the injured are undergoing treatment in the hospitals, and their condition is stable. We suspect that Sanjay might have dozed off while driving,” the SI said. Based on Laxman’s complaint, a case was registered against Sanjay under sections 106 (1) (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and 125 (a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS.
