Mysuru: Forest department, on Monday, successfully rescued a one-and-a-half-year-old male tiger that occasionally appeared in the fields, in Chennamallipur village, Gundlupet taluk, Chamarajanagar. Farmers had urged foresters to capture the prowling tiger, which was roaming around Kaggaladahundi and Chennamallipur, creating panic in Maddur forest range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve. Tame elephants Drona, Jayaprakash and Dharma, assisted the forestesr of Maddur range in the rescue operation and the big cat was tranquilized at a banana plantation. The tiger appeared to be healthy and has been sent to Koorgahalli Rehabilitation Center in Mysuru.More than 40 staff members from the Bandipur Tiger Reserve and over 20 forest personnel were part of the operation.
