Chennai: Morning walkers might once again face reduced visibility as India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast foggy conditions to return to the city and neighbouring districts next week.Shallow to moderate fog is likely during the early morning hours over Chennai, Chengalpet and Tiruvallur from Feb 15 to 18, before giving way to warmer days with partly cloudy skies.
“On Saturday, the city and the suburbs may experience mist or haze during the early morning hours. The weather may remain generally dry, with temperatures around a maximum of 32C and a minimum of 22C,” an IMD bulletin said.Meteorologists said fog forms when warm air interacts with a colder surface after night temperatures drop, leading to condensation of moisture into tiny droplets near the ground. Mist develops through the same process but is thinner, with visibility above 1km, while fog reduces visibility to less than 1km.Till Feb17, maximum temperatures are likely to remain near normal over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, while minimum temperatures may rise by about two degrees at isolated pockets between Feb 15 and 17.
