Chennai: Flight fares from Chennai to intra-state cities as well as neighbouring states have increased threefold ahead of the three-day weekend owing to Good Friday and Easter, making it pricier for travellers.The flight tickets to Hyderabad, which would usually cost around 6,000, went up to 19,000 this weekend, whereas the flight fares to Kochi surged from 4,000 to 18,000. Similarly, fares to Bengaluru increased from 3,500 to 16,000. Within the State, travelling to Madurai by air cost about 13,500 against the regular fare of 5,000, and tickets cost 16,500 to Coimbatore, while the regular fares were around 5,000. The flight fares to Trichy and Salem did not see much surge and were around 5,000.
