Bhilwara: Police arrested six people and registered two cases after a Friday night stone-pelting clash between two communities in Deshwali Mohalla under Purani Tonk police station in Tonk city, officials said.Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena said some boys of a particular community were fighting in Valmiki Basti when local residents reprimanded them. He said family members and others from the minority community then reached the spot, triggering stone-pelting between the two communities. Police said some people suffered minor injuries.Meena said one case was registered by police for obstruction of govt work and another was filed on behalf of the Valmiki community. He said six people from a particular community were arrested and investigation was underway. He added no case had been filed from the minority community’s side so far.Police conducted a flag march in Deshwali Mohalla and surrounding areas and deployed a heavy force. Tonk Additional SP Ratan Lal Bhargav appealed to people not to pay heed to rumours.Police said this was the second incident of assault and stone-pelting between two communities in Purani Tonk police station area in the last four days. After Friday’s incident, the Valmiki community decided that they would no longer carry out cleaning work in Deshwali Mohalla.
