Chennai: Five people, including three women, were arrested for smuggling ganja into the city from Odisha. Police seized 20kg of the contraband and along with the container truck used by the suspects.A police team led by inspector Anandakumar tracked the movements of Geetha, 45, of Korukkupet, who had been involved in two ganja cases earlier. Monitoring her digital footprint, police found her contacting a mobile number in Odisha. After she spoke to the suspect in Odisha, the mobile number moved from Odisha.Police teams laid a trap and maintained surveillance. They trailed Geetha who boarded an autorickshaw along with three others. When the gang was about to receive the container, police intercepted lorry driver John, 35, of Tuticorin. A search revealed 20kg of ganja concealed in the vehicle. Five suspects—Geetha, John, Padma, 42, Deepa, 45, and Nitish Kumar, 30, were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. TNN
