Lucknow: Over the past few months, the department of fisheries received investment proposals of Rs 1,407 crore, the implementation of which will generate employment for 2,000 people.Dhanlakshmi K, director general, fisheries, said at the Matsya Nivesh Shikhar Sammelan held on Dec 17-18, 2025, investment proposals worth Rs 207 crore were received by the department. In addition, a Meen Mahotsav was held two days earlier, where the UP fisheries department received investment proposals worth Rs 1,200 crore.
“We began preparations to implement these proposals on the ground. Several major companies will soon invest in districts including Varanasi, Barabanki and Amethi,” she said. Oro Sundaram Foods and Feeds Private Ltd proposed an investment of Rs 300 crore in Varanasi. Probus Smart Things Pvt Ltd and Godrej Agrovet Ltd will invest Rs 200 crore each in the state. Deepak Nexgen Feeds Private Limited expressed its intention to invest Rs 100 crore in Barabanki. Nexgen Feeds Pvt Ltd from Andhra Pradesh proposed setting up a fish processing plant, for which it will invest Rs 200 crore.
