Ahmedabad: Two fire incidents were reported in the city on Thursday as temperatures continued to rise, leading to panic in residential areas of Shela and Nava Vadaj. No injuries or casualties were reported in either incident. In Shela, a major fire broke out around 7.58am at Skycity Rivera Elite, a residential complex located off Club O7 Road. The blaze originated in a third-floor flat in C block and quickly spread to the fourth floor. Thick smoke engulfed the building and reached up to the 15th floor, prompting residents to rush out of their homes.Around 40 to 50 residents were initially moved to the terrace as a precautionary measure due to heavy smoke in the staircases. Fire brigade personnel later evacuated them safely through stairways once the situation was brought under control. Officials said that four occupants of the affected flat were rescued in time after security staff alerted them.A large number of fire tenders were pressed into service from multiple fire stations, including Bopal, Thaltej and Prahladnagar. Firefighters carried out a coordinated operation and managed to bring the blaze under control within a short time. Authorities said the building’s fire safety system was functional, which helped in preventing the fire from spreading further.Preliminary findings suggest that the presence of wooden interiors in the flat may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. The exact cause, however, is yet to be determined. In a separate incident, a fire broke out in a first-floor apartment at Manor Residency in Nava Vadaj later in the day. Fire teams responded promptly and managed to douse the flames before they could spread to adjoining units. Residents were evacuated as a precaution.Fire officials said both incidents are under investigation.
