Salem: A farmer was arrested for murdering his son at their home in Mettupatty Dhathanur near Ayodhiyapattinam in Salem district on Saturday.Police said M Kamaraj, 50, murdered his son K Surya, 24, during a heated argument. Investigation revealed that Surya who was involved in a robbery and theft case, was recently released from prison on bail and returned home on Friday. “Surya, who was drunk, argued with his family over why he was not taken out on bail immediately after his arrest. Enraged, Kamaraj repeatedly slashed Surya on his head, eyes and nose with a sickle used for farming, killing him on the spot,” said a police officer from Veeranam station. When police reached the spot, he confessed to the murder and surrendered. Police sent Surya’s body to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem.Kamaraj was remanded in judicial custody at the Salem central prison.
