AHMEDABAD: A man identified as the son of a former MLA was detained for allegedly driving under the influence late on Sunday night. The incident, which occurred near Dudeshwar Circle, came to light after a video clip went viral.Police said locals stopped a car after suspecting its occupants were inebriated. Bottles of alcohol were allegedly found, and a traffic response team and police were alerted through the helpline. In the video, a constable is seen inspecting the vehicle, while the man argues with police personnel. Sources said the man and his friend were taken to the Madhavpura police station for further action. However, no offence was registered at the time, and both were let off. Police said action will now be initiated based on the viral video. Inspector C R Rana of the Madhavpura police station said that the man is currently absconding. “Further action will be taken once he is traced and subjected to a medical examination,” Rana said. In the first week of Feb, the ex-MLA’s son was reportedly caught driving in an inebriated condition in a separate incident.
