Kozhikode: K Padmarajan, a former teacher and BJP functionary who was convicted in a Pocso case, was reportedly granted an extended parole. He was granted parole following the death of his sister. Initially, the jail superintendent granted a three-day parole, but it was reportedly extended later. Padmarajan was released on parole on Feb 3. The case involved the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Palathayi, Kannur, between Jan and Feb 2020. Thalassery fast track special court found him guilty of sexually assaulting the student and sentenced him. Padmarajan was dismissed from service after the verdict. tnn
