Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the state police has arrested Praveen Kumar Sinha, a key accused in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) paper leak case. Sinha, a resident of Lakhisarai, was arrested from the Karbigahiya locality in Patna on March 22 and is believed to be a close associate of Sanjeev Mukhia, the mastermind behind the paper leak racket, an EOU official said on Monday.Additional director general of EOU, Nayyar Hasnain Khan, said, “A total of 293 accused, including gang kingpin Mukhia, have so far been charge-sheeted in the case, while efforts are continuing to arrest other absconding accused.”On March 22, EOU officials received confidential information that Sinha alias Dablu, a named accused in the FIR and an active member of the Mukhia gang, was coming to Patna.Acting on the tip-off, a special raiding team of the EOU conducted an operation and arrested him. Sinha, a resident of Konipar village under Manikpur police station in Lakhisarai district, was questioned after the arrest.During interrogation, he admitted that he had been associated with the Mukhia gang since 2015-16 and was helping the group in leaking papers for competitive examinations. “During the TRE-3.0 exam, the gang allegedly planned to leak the paper and take candidates to Hazaribagh. Sinha is accused of assisting in receiving the candidates and coordinating with other gang members. When police conducted a raid at a hotel in Hazaribagh a day before the examination, Sinha managed to flee and was hiding since then to avoid arrest,” Khan said.The ADG added that the EOU is maintaining continuous surveillance on gangs involved in paper leak rackets and remains committed to ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of examinations in the state.
