Jind: The Haryana Human Rights Commission has directed authorities to ensure strict compliance with road safety laws, warning that any negligence will be taken seriously. Chairman Justice Lalit Batra said legal provisions alone cannot curb accidents unless accompanied by public awareness and responsible behaviour. Wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and not driving under the influence of alcohol are simple actions that can save countless lives, he said, adding that road safety demands discipline and an understanding that roads are a shared space where a moment’s carelessness can be life-altering.Commission member Deep Bhatia stressed the need for widespread awareness on traffic rules, noting that a driver holds the responsibility for the safety of many others. He said careful driving is a reflection of one’s character and cited examples of traffic discipline followed in various foreign countries.On the occasion, Justice Batra honoured individuals for outstanding work in different fields.
