Bathinda: Representatives of a number of employee organisations held a state-level convention in Moga on Saturday and demanded pay scales for those employees who were not getting them. Other key demands include revival of the old pension scheme, revival of the assured career progression scheme, and release of pending instalments of the dearness allowance, rural allowance, and border area allowance. The leaders of employee unions stated that employees who joined govt services after July 17, 2020, were denied the benefit of proper pay scales. “All those employees should be covered under the 6th Pay Commission and should be given all the benefits at par with regular employees. The state govt issued an order on November 18, 2022, to revive the old pension scheme, but it was not implemented. Employees who joined services after 2004 were not getting the old pension scheme,” said a source. It was also stated that state govt employees were getting 16% less dearness allowance than central govt employees, and it was the first time that no instalment was released in the entire 2025.Members of the organisations took out a protest march in Moga after the convention, and handed over a demand charter to the district administration in the name of the chief minister. They also announced that they would hold a state-level rally in Sangrur on Feb 15. MSID:: 126452378 413 |
