Locals alerted about the incident,” said a forester Supriyan Tuti. The elephant was part of a four-member herd.“Soon after we got the information, a rescue team was sent to the area. Initially, we poured water in the well for about 15-16 feet to help the elephant sail up. Thereafter, from one side, we dug the well with the help of an earthmover to make a slanting lane so that the elephant can walk up. Around noon, the elephant came out safely,” said another official, adding that the forest team safely drove the elephant towards the forest where it got reunited with its herd.
