The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in Puducherry. The polling process will take place in 1 phase, with voting set to begin on 9 April, 2026 and the counting of votes will take place on 4 May, 2026

Key Dates In The Election Schedule
According to the commission, the election process will follow the standard sequence of notifications, nominations and scrutiny before voters head to the polling stations.
Issue of notification: March 15, 2026
Last date for filing nominations: March 23, 2026
Scrutiny of nominations: March 24, 2026
Last date for withdrawal of candidature: March 26, 2026

Voting Will Be Conducted On April 9, 2024
Counting And Results
Votes from all constituencies will be counted on 4 May 2026, after which the final results of the Assembly elections will be declared.
Model Code Of Conduct In Force
Following the announcement of the election timetable, the Model Code of Conduct comes into immediate effect in Puducherry. This means political parties, candidates and government authorities must follow strict guidelines to ensure free and fair elections.
