ECI on Monday gave a clear message that the optimum utilization of the central forces should be made during and ahead of the assembly polls. Instruction were given to all the DEOs, SPs and others at the meeting that the central forces should be properly utilized.
In a day-long high-level meeting on Monday, convened with top officials from ECI and West Bengal CEO’s office, where DEOs, SPs and all other stake holders, the ECI top officials on Monday reviewed the district wise poll preparedness.
Shifting from Bengal SIR, today’s daylong meeting, focussed on election preparedness, status of election materials, status of the EVMs, VVPATs, whether there is any shortage of any polling personnel, how police personnel will be deployed, logistics and a slew of other issues, a ECI top official told ET.
Assured Minimum Facilities have been discussed, which was top most emphasis was given, and state administration have informed West Bengal CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal that they have completed the process, people in the know told ET.
“The DEOs must be satisfied that Assured Minimum Facilities and they should be ready with it,” it was said in the meeting by ECI officials. Naka checking will also start soon ahead of the polling.
It has been learnt that South 24 Parganas districts and Coochbehar DEOs were reprimanded for not coming prepared. The Election Commission particularly cautioned South 24 Parganas district which was reportedly not prepared with the presentation.A high-level meeting held with ECI on Monday on poll preparedness was held today and details of the advance deployment of the 480 companies of CAPF in two phases this month in West Bengal ahead of the assembly election in the state. Of the 480 companies, the maximum deployment will be in the North 24 Parganas district at 58, followed by 35 in Murshidabad, 33 in South 24 Parganas, 30 in Kolkata, and 28 in East Midnapore.
