Nagpur: Two youths were arrested by Saoner police after they allegedly damaged a police patrol vehicle with a hammer during a late-night chase near Adasa Phata, Dhapewada. The incident occurred when sub-inspector Rajesh Tiwari and his team attempted to stop a suspicious white motorcycle for a routine check.The incident took place when bike rider Akshay alias Bundi Gurve, 19, a resident of Dhammadeep Nagar, and his two accomplices, made a sudden U-turn and tried to flee from the wrong side of the road. When followed by the police vehicle, the accused stopped and allegedly damaged the bonnet, bumper, and fender with a hammer. One of the accused was also carrying a knife.Police have booked the accused under Sections 132, 3(5) of BNS, relevant sections of the Arms Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. The damage to the police vehicle is estimated at around Rs 5,000.The two arrested have been identified as Akshay Gurve and Mahendra alias Charsi Shahu, 22, both from Dhammadeep Nagar under Yashodhara Nagar Police Station limits. Mahendra is a history sheeter, already facing multiple cases including attempt to murder, theft, burglary, and illegal possession of weapons. Further investigation is ongoing to trace the third accomplice.
