Hyderabad: An alcoholic labourer allegedly bludgeoned his wife and their son to death at their house in a hamlet in Amangal in Rangareddy district on Tuesday. Daughter of the accused, who was also attacked, is undergoing treatment at Osmania general hospital.Police said the accused, Banavath Ramdas Naik from Puligonipalli thanda, had an argument with wife Kavitha, 31, late on Monday night over “They had an argument again and in a fit of rage, Naik picked up a pestle from the kitchen and attacked Kavitha on the head. She collapsed on the spot. Hearing the noise, their children Harshit, 7, and Pranitha, 9, woke up. They noticed their mother lying on the floor with a bleeding injury and started screaming for help. Naik assaulted them with the pestle and they also collapsed with head injuries,” Amangal inspector K Venkateswarlu said. Police picked up Naik from the hamlet and he is currently in police custody. A case was registered against him under sections 103(1) (murder) and 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS. “Kavitha and Harshit died on the spot. We shifted Pranitha to OGH. She suffered a severe head injury and her condition is critical,” the inspector said. After the alleged assault, Naik left home and started wandering in the hamlet. At around 6.30 am, neighbours saw the victims lying motionless in the house with bleeding injuries and immediately alerted locals and police.On Monday night, Naik’s 12-year-old elder daughter went to her grandmother’s house nearby, while his second daughter was at her school hostel. Naik returned home late after consuming alcohol. According to police, Naik spent most of his Rs 12,000 monthly salary on liquor and gave very little amount to Kavitha for household expenditure. Kavitha had an argument with Naik when he returned home drunk. After the argument, the couple and their two younger children went to sleep. At around 5.30 am, Naik got up and asked Kavitha for money to buy liquor, police said. Naik is a labourer at a local cotton mill. Kavitha was a construction worker.
