KANPUR: At least three people, including a six-year-old girl, were seriously injured in a case of drunk driving in Kidwai Nagar late on Friday night.The incident occurred when a speeding car, allegedly driven by an intoxicated Mohak Kayal, hit a rickshaw carrying a family, injuring them critically. The car then collided with a parked WagonR before crashing into the shutter of a snack shop.Dharmendra, who was closing the shop owned by Ankit, was also injured when the car rammed into the shutter. The shop is located in a property owned by Rajesh Gupta near the Bank of Baroda at Site No:1.The young girl and her family, who were in the rickshaw, suffered severe head injuries. Locals rushed to the spot and caught the driver as he tried to flee.Inspector Dharmendra Ram of Kidwai Nagar police station confirmed that Mohak Kayal, a resident of Y Block, Kidwai Nagar, was taken into custody. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.Police have launched an investigation, which includes checking the driver’s blood alcohol level and establishing the exact sequence of the crash. The case underscores growing concerns over drunk driving and its dangerous consequences for innocent road users.
