Ahmedabad: A 31-year-old man was arrested by Naroda traffic police for allegedly driving under the influence and ramming his car into a scooter, injuring a trader, his wife, and their 4-year-old daughter on Thursday night.The complainant, Ritesh Khatnani, 40, a cloth merchant residing in New Naroda, stated that the incident occurred around 9.15pm on Feb 12 near Naroda Kapadivas Road. Khatnani was riding an Activa scooter with his wife seated behind him and his daughter, Vihaana, standing in the front portion of the vehicle when a speeding car allegedly hit them from the front.
Khatnani suffered injuries near his left eye, arm, waist, and leg. His daughter sustained facial injuries and bleeding and was admitted to a private hospital in Naroda. His wife suffered minor injuries.Locals apprehended the driver, identified as Raghvendra Singh, a resident of Nikol, after he allegedly tried to flee. Police said a liquor bottle was found in the car, and a medical examination confirmed that the driver was under the influence. He was arrested early Friday morning, and further investigation is underway.G Division traffic police registered a complaint of rash driving and causing hurt under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Prohibition Act.
