Margao: The air intelligence unit (AIU) of Goa customs at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, seized 24kg of hydroponic cannabis worth over Rs 8 crore from five passengers on Wednesday, officials said.Acting on passenger profiling, AIU officers intercepted the passengers upon their arrival at the airport and conducted a detailed examination of their baggage. The contraband was found concealed inside food packets in the passengers’ checked-in luggage.Of the five arrested, two arrived from Bangkok via Muscat and one from Abu Dhabi via Muscat. The substance tested positive for drugs using an NDPS field testing kit.All five were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is under way.
